In regards to working with older homes:

It is often helpful to use companies familiar with the neighborhood. Just because a home is older, doesn’t mean repairs should be more expensive or complicated. If you take a Volkswagen to a shop that specializes in repairing Honda’s you will likely pay more than you would have if you took it to a shop that specialized in Volkswagen vehicles. It’s often very helpful to receive several estimates from companies for bigger jobs as you may find a great variance in pricing or knowledge for this reason.
